Last week, we were thrilled to attend the book launch for Erin Lawless’s gorgeous new novel, Somewhere Only We Know. What’s even better is that blogger and book lover, Ali Williams, has written this fab round up – it’s like we’re celebrating all over again!
I first met Erin Lawless at the 2015 Romance Festival Live party, at the News Corp building in London Bridge, and we soon discovered that we have an affinity for silly selfies.
So I was delighted to be invited to her launch party for the paperback release of Somewhere Only We Know, her second romantic comedy, published with Harper Impulse.
The book’s set in Clapham and is loosely inspired by the deportation of one of Lawless’ best friends, and so it seemed perfect that the party would be held in Clapham Books, an independent bookshop in the heart of London.
What I love most about Somewhere Only We Know, is that it’s a love letter to London. There’s something quite enchanting about a book that’s wholly in love with its setting (something that was also apparent in Lawless’ last book – The Best I Never Had – which is partly set at her (and my) university, Royal Holloway).
The party itself was absolutely fab!
Erin read an extra – carefully selected so as not to spoil anything for those who hadn’t read it yet – and had us all laughing. Any boy who’s willing to lend a girl his xbox is clearly quite besotted!!
There was plenty of opportunity to mingle with other bloggers, Erin’s friends and family, and the extended Harper Impulse family, including author Brigid Coady, editor Charlotte and book cover designer Alexandra.
Plus, what’s a party without some drinks?
As well as character-inspired cocktails at the after party, there was plenty of wine – to the delight of all.
Erin’s second book, much like her first, is charming and entertaining, and I can’t wait to read her next.
